Client Requirement

A clean lined, contemporary garden with blocks of low maintenance planting.  Entertaining space is important along with a petanque court.  Paving to be smooth and geometric.

The Project

The scale of the entertaining area was in keeping with the petanque court and lawns.  Using a honed natural Sandstone surrounded with classic silver grey polished sand stone planks, the subtle bordering was achieved which changed colour giving a different feel when wet.

The planting was completed with layers of foliage.  Starting with Pleached Hornbeam for screening down to Yew and then clipped Box.  Blocks of colour were injected through lavender, swathes of whaite and purple penstemon and pittosporum.

In the area that gained the morning sun but suffered shade for the rest of the day we installed a raised artificial lawn surrounding the paved area.  Utilising lighting and structural sculpture, the clean lines and crisp finish was further enhanced into the evening.
